Piton Community School

Student Sponsorship Program

Help our school succeed - Sponsor a student today!

Sponsor a Student

If you'd like to sponsor a specific child,

type their name in the Add Note/Comment section on the donation page.

Just a $240 donation per student will provide:

  • uniforms and shoes for the student
  • books, bookbag, and school materials for the student
  • helps pay our teachers, custodian, and security guard
  • helps supply the school with materials and supplies

Attending school is such a privilege for these students. When children don't attend school, it's not out of laziness or apathy; it's due to lack of resources. Typically, schools receive some level of government support. But the Piton Community School is located at the top of a 3,500 ft mountain with no paved road. When we started working with the village in 2014, the school was overlooked for governmental support; receiving little to no help. Too often staff went unpaid, buildings remained unrepaired, and projects and plans unrealized.

As the years have passed, we've worked out ways to support the school through various methods to good success. With the political chaos roiling the country the past few  years, the village of Piton and its school has been relatively stable with our lunch program, medical clinic, and water & solar project. In fact, the village and the school have taken in many new families fleeing the violence of Port-au-Prince and nearby Petit Goâve. Now we're taking it to the next level!

How it works:

  • A sponsorship costs $240 per student per school year.
  • We welcome payments at $20/month/student for 12 months or payments in one lump sum.
  • We will send you a photo or photos of the individual student(s) you are supporting and a custom bookmark.
  • You will be added to a email list for updates specific to the sponsorship program. Updates are given (loosely) once a month and you can always unsubscribe.

Our best hope of making any sort of lasting difference in Haiti is by educating their children. Piton Community School provides a safe space for the youngest of the vulnerable and provides them with education to show that there exists different path choices that don't include violence.

Students receive:

  • bible study,
  • trauma counseling,
  • academic education,
  • agricultural education

in an environment that demonstrates learning is a lifelong process. Children and adults of all ages are involved in some program or another.

Our Lunch Program also ensures everyone at the school receives one hot meal a day. People don't learn very well on an empty stomach. In a country where food insecurity is a constant problem, it's hard to expect progress to happen.  Thanks for supporting our student sponsorship AND our lunch program!

Thanks for taking an active part in hope!

Thank you~~God bless you!
